Job Description:

The technology and commercial team at LaBarge Weinstein play an important role in the firm. In this position, you will work as part of our team primarily focused on advising on technology contracting and the commercialization of intellectual property law and technology products, including the drafting and negotiation of a wide variety of standard agreements including but not limited to: software license agreements (distributed and SaaS model); distribution agreements; in-bound and out-bound intellectual property licenses.   You will also be expected to provide clients with legal support for online and social media businesses, including the provision of advice in respect to privacy and other compliance-related matters.  You will also be involved in the firm’s active mergers and acquisitions practice by providing technology and intellectual property support for M&A transactions, including the conduct of due diligence and review of representations and warranties in respect to technology and intellectual property matters and the drafting and review of ancillary IP agreements on such deals.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four (4+) years of experience working as a commercial or technology solicitor in a law firm or in-house.     
  • Exceptional client service skills.
  • Proficiency in addressing a broad spectrum of legal matters.
  • Ability to write and communicate complex concepts in a simple manner.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset, with a focus on assisting clients to achieve their business goals.
  • Strong ability to support, collaborate with, and negotiate on behalf of, business clients.
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • LL. B/JD or equivalent (and an active membership at the Law Society of the province in which you are located.
  • Registered trademark agent status is welcome but not mandatory.​
