DEREK FRIEND

As a connected member of my community, it has become harder to say "no" in many cases.  When it is hard to say "no", I listen to myself.  We lawyers understand what is right even before understanding why "it" is right.  I got into law to help people - so why not do that?

BRITTANY SUD

Brittany Sud is a supervising lawyer for the Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) Wills Project, which is a project run in partnership between the PBSC chapters of the University of Toronto (U of T) and Osgoode Hall Law School (Osgoode Hall). 
Brittany is paired with one student from U of T or Osgoode Hall per semester and is assigned a pro bono client. 
Brittany works with the student and client to create a will and powers of attorney for property and personal care for the client.

Above all, the key stage in my decision making process was when I reminded myself that I had started my own practice to have the independence to be the kind of lawyer I wanted to be, one that placed helping clients above generating revenue and prestige.

In addition to doing regular pro bono work in the area of family law, he is currently working on a high profile case that will affect the rights of disabled children. He advocating on behalf of a disabled child for his right to fair child support, in a constitutional challenge.
