Attorney General’s Mandate released

  • September 25, 2014

This afternoon, the government released the mandate letters that the Premier sends to each minister outlining her expectations of that Minister during the mandate.

The Attorney General’s mandate letter indicates that she will continue to work on several projects in which the OBA has been involved, including increasing the Legal Aid income eligibility cut-off, insurance fraud and court reform.  She will also reintroduce the Anti-SLAPP legislation for which the OBA advocated.

The OBA expects to continue to provide advice on projects such as OMB reform and what is likely to be robust family-law reform.  The mandate letter does not  preclude work on additional projects but gives a good picture of the broad strokes.

The AG’s mandate letter can be found here:

We will review and provide a summary of the mandate letters of other relevant Ministries in the coming days.
