JOSEPH BLINICKPro Bono Profile: Joseph Blinick, Bennett Jones LLP

WHAT I DO

I am an associate at Bennett Jones LLP with a general litigation practice focused on corporate commercial disputes, securities litigation, class actions and employment matters.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MY PRO BONO WORK

I have done several trials through the Law Help Ontario Trial Matching Project, as well as supervised and supported more junior members of my firm with their own trials.  I also act as duty counsel to self-represented parties appearing in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, providing summary advice and other assistance as part of the Pro Bono Law Ontario Duty Counsel Project.

WHY I DO THIS PRO BONO WORK

Skilled legal services are, unfortunately, beyond the reach of many.  With pro bono work, everybody wins. Our communities are served. Our needy get the help that they require.  And we, as lawyers, get a profound sense of joy and pride in being able to use our training, experience and judgment to help those in need when they have nowhere else to turn to.

ONE COMMENT TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS

"There can be no equal justice where the kind of trial a man gets depends on the amount of money he has" - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black (1964)
