Electronic Registration


Background & Creation of the Joint Committee

The Joint Committee on Electronic Registration of Title Documents (Joint Committee) was formed at the request of The Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC) and the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) in September of 1996. Its mandate is to consider the impact of electronic registration on conveyancing practice and to recommend practice standards.

The Joint Committee is comprised of representatives from LSUC, OBA, County District Law Presidents Association (CDLPA), Ontario Real Estate Lawyers Association (ORELA) and the Lawyers Professional Indemnity Company (LPIC). Its members represent a cross-section of the real estate bar with practices in small rural firms, medium and large size firms from London, Ottawa, Hamilton and Toronto, and also in-house counsel.
