The Ontario Bar Association Task Force on Judicial Mediation was established by the OBA Board of Directors on January 27, 2011. The Mission of the Task Force includes:
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of the current judicial mediation landscape by:
- examining the role the judiciary now plays in mediative processes in Ontario and in other jurisdictions; and
- consulting with other stakeholders;
- Determining whether, and, if so, how judicial mediation could:
- improve access to justice by:
- making the litigation process more affordable; and
- improving the efficiency of, and reducing delays in, the court system; and
- further enhance the reputation of the administration of justice; and
- improve access to justice by:
- Making appropriate recommendations to the relevant policy makers to further the goals of access to justice and enhancing the reputation of the administration of justice.
The OBA Taskforce on Judicial Mediation will be holding a Policy Day on December 9, 2011 to hear different perspectives on the issue. The Policy day will be held at the Conference Centre at the OBA, 20 Toronto Street, Toronto, Ontario, Suite 200.
