OBA Fact Sheet
 
  • Established in 1907, the OBA is a provincial branch of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA).
  • The OBA is a voluntary, non-partisan association representing more than 17,000 Ontario lawyers, judges and law students.
  • As the voice of the legal profession, the OBA is the only legal association representing lawyers from across Ontario and every practice area.
  • The association’s primary role is to advance reasoned positions to the provincial government, public and the Law Society of Upper Canada on behalf of its members in the area of legal reform and to provide professional development services to its members.
  • The OBA is governed by an elected council consisting of 221 members and an executive committee consisting of 20 members. Both Council and Executive represent lawyers from across the province and from each practice area.
  • The OBA’s President for 2012-2013 is Morris Chochla.
  • The OBA’s First Vice-President is Pascale Daigneault.
