Annual Human Rights Update - Call for Presenters

We are looking for expressions of interest from human rights practitioners to prepare a paper and present at the upcoming conference hosted by the Administrative Law, Constitutional, Civil Liberties & Human Rights and Labour & Employment Law Sections. We are interested in encouraging a diversity of speakers to present at the conference.

Presentations should focus on a practical approach to dealing with harassment and discrimination either in substantive law, and/or in practice/ procedural developments. Presentations, for example, could cover topics such as analyzing allegations of discrimination in the absence of overt or explicit evidence; the role of expert evidence; proving systemic racial discrimination; use of statistical
evidence; intersectionality of enumerated grounds of discrimination; practical steps that employers, unions/ institutions can take to address/prevent workplace discrimination; updates on the substantive law, updates on practice at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

Expressions of Interest should be no longer than 2 pages in length and should include a short summary of the topic and outline of the proposed presentation and a short biography.

Selections will be based upon the proposals received and presenters will be contacted by February 21, 2011. All papers must be finalized by May 20, 2011.
