Governance

The activities of the Ontario Bar Association are governed by the By-laws of the Association, last ratified by the Annual General Meeting of October 1, 2010.

Seven officers of the Association are responsible for the regular activities and administration of the Branch:

  • President - Paul R. Sweeny
  • 1st Vice-President - Morris A. Chochla
  • 2nd Vice-President -  Pascale Daigneault
  • Secretary (Executive & Council) - Sean M. Kennedy
  • Treasurer - Douglas R. Downey
  • Immediate Past President - R. Lee Akazaki
  • Executive Director - Steve Pengelly

All officers, with the exception of the executive director, are elected members of the association. The executive director is the chief operating officer of the Ontario Bar Association and the only paid officer of the association.

There is a 20 member Board of Directors (which includes the above officers) that meets on a monthly basis to deal with the business of the Association.
