Award of Excellence in Family Law
Each year, the Family Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association (“OBA”) presents the Award for Excellence in Family Law, in memory of James G. McLeod.
The Family Law Section Executive of the OBA is currently seeking nominations of worthwhile candidates for the Award from members of the Family Law Section. The candidate should be someone who has made exceptional contributions and achievements in any or all of the following:
- teaching of Family Law and practice
- taking tough cases forward and precedent setting cases
- development of Family Law, including lecturing, scholarly writing, lobbying, and development of policy and family law legislation, including new directions involving inter-disciplinary and comprehensive approaches to dispute resolution
- enhancement of the practice of Family Law
- leadership in the Family Law Bar
Any Family Law Section member of the OBA in good standing, not including current members of the OBA Family Law Section Executive, is eligible. The nominator must indicate that the candidate has been advised of the nomination prior to the nomination deadline and consents to being nominated.
Past recepients include Terrence Caskie, Nicole Tellier, Professor Nicolas Bala, The Honourable Madam Justice Carole Curtis, Martha McCarthy, Alfred Mamo, The Honourable Mary Lou Benotto, Thomas Bastedo, Linda Silver Dranoff, Professor James Walsh, Malcolm Kronby, The Honourable George T. Walsh, Philip Epstein, and James MacDonald.
Previous submissions are not retained or automatically considered. Please resubmit prior submissions if you wish to have them considered.
