The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services (MGCS) is currently seeking feedback on priorities and recommendations for reform of Ontario's corporate and commercial legislation.

Shaping and influencing policy development and legislation is an important role of the Ontario Bar Association (OBA). It is just one of the ways that the OBA serves its members and ensures they are well supported in their everyday work.

Working with government and the standing Committee on Justice Policy the OBA identified four elements of Bill 49, the Ontario Immigration Act that were of significant concern to Immigration Lawyers specifically and to the bar more broadly.

Last December, Ryerson University was selected to deliver the English language LPP to candidates across Ontario. The LPP will be launched in September 2014.

This afternoon, the Attorney General introduced the Protection for Public Participation Act 2013, anti-SLAPP legislation designed to deter and remedy strategic litigation brought for the purpose of stifling public debate.
